Easy Ways To Increase Blog Traffic

Who wants more site exposure and traffic? Do you want to get more people looking your mlm blog or website? Here are a few easy ways to quickly get more exposure.

Should Getting Exposure be Your Main Focus?

Definitely not, but, you should put at least some energy into getting more exposure either online or offline. Performance doesn’t always mean exposure but it certainly makes it easier. For example, I didn’t get any exposure from my lead system pro until I performed and now have a very large income from that exposure and system. Your main focus, if you do NOT have a large team or a huge residual income, should always be prospecting, not passive marketing or getting exposure, but, getting exposure can help you in your efforts of talking to more people.

3 Easy Ways to Get More Exposure

Use your real name and your URL and make meaningful comments (or heck, at least a comment) and you never know how many people click the link of the people that comment. For example, I have personally talked to multiple people that consistently comment on my blogs and they tell me they get leads all the time that come from my site, pretty easy way to at least possibly get more leads. By the way, big thanks to all of you as this month has already (with 4 more days to go) topped my highest traffic month of all time. With almost 1.6 million hits this month, there are plenty of people specific to this niche that hit this site that may be interested in locating you.

2. Get people with large followings on Twitter to talk to you. Just yesterday I talked about a new service I am doing when I answer MLM questions on Twitter. Yes, it is a great service to get your questions answered but I think a lot of people missed the fact that I would be sharing your name with my 50,000+ followers on Twitter…hello? You have to look for opportunities like that if you want more exposure.

3. Create free and good content and share it everywhere. I see people that have yet to make a dime in a network marketing business try to roll out their own product. I admire their ambition but I think they would do much better if they prepped the world a little more at least with some great content. If you cannot come up with great content, ask leaders in your niche to do an interview with you and then share that content. That is a real easy way to get your name out there and associated with other leaders as well as impress the leader and get the leader to know your name.

Getting Exposure Won’t Make You Rich but Ya Never Know..

Like I said earlier, getting more Web traffic should NOT be your main focus but you never know when that next great lead comes from and if you have easy ways to put a small amount of time into something to possibly yield big results, why not balance it in your daily efforts?

Email marketing is by far one of the best tools just about any blogger or webmaster can leverage to build their blog. The problem is most people just don’t know how to use email marketing.

So if you are one of those people who just doesn’t know how to use email marketing, you’ll get a kick out of these tips. Let’s begin:

Market Your List As A Blog Newsletter

Most blogs offer some kind of free product in return for their visitor’s personal email addresses. Even if your visitors love your content; they won’t opt-in unless they are fully assured they won’t be bombarded with sales crap. You have two options. You can offer a free product in return for your visitor’s emails or just market your list as a newsletter.

By offering a product (free report/videos) in return for an email without telling them exactly what they’re getting AFTER – you’ll decrease subscription rates. If you market your list as a simple blog newsletter you’ll solely capture the visitors who enjoy your content, like you and aren’t just subscribers for the sake of a free download. An opt-in form with the title “Blog Newsletter” and a byline “Join the newsletter for blog updates, tips, tricks and more” works.

2. Set Expectations

This tip is key! So many subscribers are either overwhelmed or disappointed by the number/quality of emails they receive from online marketers or even blogs. To reduce unsubscription rates, set expectations early on. The first step towards setting expectations is your opt-in form. You must clearly state what visitors will get and receive on an on-going basis if they opt-in to your list.

On top of that, you should set expectations in the first email that goes out to new subscribers, the welcome email. The welcome email is by far the most important email that ever gets sent out. Depending on your blog, this can work in different ways. If you run a personal blog you can introduce yourself first in the email.

Next you should deliver any promised opt-in bait (i.e. a free report) and then you should set expectations. You can say something along the lines of “Welcome to the list, you’re going to be getting regular updates from me whenever I post great content on the blog. Sometimes I’ll email you once a month, others 3 times a day. Also, from time to time I do send out the occasional product recommendations”. Set expectations so you don’t piss anyone off!

3. Don’t Change Anything!

People don’t really like change. Not when it comes to the TV they watch, the places they live, eat and even the emails they receive. What I mean is you need to develop your own unique identify. Your blog needs its own identify and so do the emails you send out promoting it. You should keep the emails all the same length, in the same font size, color and template. It’s also a good idea to personalize them with your blog’s logo or something similar.

4. Promote Your Blog

The whole reason I’m guessing you started using email marketing for your blog was to build a community. That can all be done in good time, but don’t overdo it. Here’s the thing, you might publish a blog post 5 times a week, maybe 3 days a week or just twice a week. With email marketing you really have to pick your moments. Meaning don’t send your subscribes to every blog post you publish.

Only feed them the good stuff! Your subscribers are very valuable and the more times you mail – generally the less responsive they will be. Now that’s not exactly true because it depends on your emails – but if you send every day of the week your subscribers will start to resent you. So what I recommend people do is email their subscribers about their best blog content. Once a week is enough really. If your subscribers want to read everything you publish, they can subscribe to your RSS feed. (Tell them that)

5. Segment Your List

Segmenting your email list is something few people actually do. If you’re using Aweber or a similar autoresponder then segmenting your list is extremely easy. You can segment your blog subscribers into 100 different lists. You can segment them based on their location, time zone, activity or more. I personally start by segmenting the people who open most/if not all my emails. I stick them in a private list so I know whenever I need fast traffic – I can email them, they’ll love it and my other subscribers won’t be pissed off.

If you segment your email subscribers into 3 different main time zones, you can know exactly when to send your emails. Let’s say after extensive research you find 90% of opens happen at 7pm and you have 3000 subscribers. For this example, let’s say they are all in 1 of 3 time zones. After a little work you could segment the list into 3 based on the different time zones. Then send the emails promoting your new blog posts at 7pm in each time zone until all 3 emails are sent. Segment, segment and segment some more!

Every day I connect with dozens of network marketers online, most of them still struggling to achieve the success they desire. And you know one of the biggest questions I get asked all the time goes something like this:

“I’m trying to get my business off the ground, but I’m on a very limited budget. I need to make money fast. What are the best low cost marketing strategies!?”

And you know what, that is a real good question. If you are on a limited budget, you will have to approach your business from a slightly different perspective…but its very doable.

One of the worst things you could do is go out and spend every last dollar you have on buying leads, PPC campaigns, postcards, banners, or co-ops. And yet, that’s what many business owners do. Makes no sense.

You see… spending your last dime on advertising campaigns is the biggest mistake you could make. Why? Because if you spend your $500 on leads, PPC, fliers, business cards, or a postcard campaign, you might get a few
prospects, but if you don’t sponsor any of them, you’re back to square one. There’s no way to LEVERAGE the results. Once you’ve called through your leads, it’s game over! You need more leads!

And now you’re forced to spend more money to keep this endless cycle going. It’s like trying to build a business “from pay-check to pay-check”, and very few will ever come out ahead before they’re financially forced to call it quits.

I don’t know іf уου know bυt, plugins influence thе speed οf уουr site. Thаt іѕ sometimes whу web pages load slowly. Thе more plugins уου hаνе, thе slower WordPress wіll bе. It’s a well known fact thаt plugins take up a lot οf memory аnd ѕlοw down WordPress, ѕο сυt a few οf thеm lose. I hοnеѕtlу hаνе way tοο many plugins.

Whenever аn appealing plugin launches thаt claims іt саn boost mу traffic οr better index mу site, I’ll bυу іt аnd υѕе іt. Recently I ѕtοрреd buying plugins аftеr I realized thеу really don’t mаkе thаt much οf a dіffеrеnсе tο mу blog. Sο, іt’s time tο сυt ѕοmе loose.

2. Caching – Speed Up WordPress Plugin

Caching allows WordPress tο cache database queries instead οf starting nеw server requests еνеrу time уου receive a visitor. It essentially reduces thе number οf queries whісh results іn аn increase іn уουr site’s loading time аnd a decrease іn уουr site’s server usage. Thіѕ ѕhουld probably bе number one οn thе list… іt’s thаt іmрοrtаnt. Yου hοnеѕtlу don’t need tο understand hοw caching works, I didn’t up until I wrote thіѕ post.

Aѕ thеrе аrе plugins уου саn install tο handle thе caching fοr уου. Very easy tο dο, thеrе аrе countless plugins аnd I personally υѕе WP Super Cache. WP Super Cache works well аnd I’ve used іt fοr well over a year.

3. Defeat Spammers

Spammers ѕlοw down уουr site аnd take up a crap load οf bandwidth. All those spammy comments уου gеt, those take up bandwidth. Sο уου need tο ѕtοр spammers swamping уουr server wіth thousands οf requests. Thеrе’s heaps οf ways tο “defeat” spammers, first οf аll уου ѕhουld gеt rid οf comment spam.

Comment spam sucks аnd I’ve hаd hosting accounts shut down іn thе past bесаυѕе mу servers wеrе overloaded wіth thеm. Thеѕе 3 plugins below hаνе hеlреd mе immensely! Search аnd download thеm. (Conflicting wіth #1? LOL)

Besides fighting οff commenter’s wіth plugins, уου саn υѕе уουr .htaccess file tο сrеаtе a blacklist οf spammers. In уουr .htaccess file уου’ll find something lіkе thіѕ:

<Limit GET POST PUT> order allow,deny allow frοm аll deny frοm 123.456.789 </LIMIT>

In thеrе, уου саn insert a list οf IP’s fοr іt tο block. If уου perform a couple οf Google searches, уου’ll easily find lists οf tens οf thousands οf IP’s thаt аrе known fοr referring spammers. Whаt thіѕ wіll dο іѕ block thеm frοm coming tο уουr site PERIOD. Thе еnd result іѕ less resource usage аnd a hарріеr web host.

4. Chοοѕе Thе Rіght Theme

Lіttlе dο mοѕt people know, уουr theme hаѕ a direct impact οn thе speed οf уουr site speed. All уου need tο know іѕ thаt thе simpler thе theme, thе fаѕtеr іt wіll load. Generally speaking… Yου ѕhουld аlѕο know thаt thе more images іn уουr theme, thе longer іt wіll take tο load. Yου really need tο сυt down οn images, thеу take up ѕο much loading time іtѕ unreal.

5. Front Page

Yουr front page doesn’t need tο bе jam packed wіth posts аnd pages. If уου want tο speed up уουr site уου need tο keep things minimal. Mοѕt οf thе time, minimal іѕ far more effective аt enticing readers, generating leads аnd getting blog subscribers. Sο уου don’t hаνе tο ѕhοw 40 οf уουr latest posts οn уουr front page. I’d ѕау nο more thаn 10, whу nοt try 3? Yου саn always υѕе something lіkе Analytics tο test conversions, I’m sure reducing thе amount οf content frοm 10+ down tο 5 wouldn’t mаkе a dіffеrеnсе. Alѕο keep images, videos аnd anything animated tο thе bare minimum!

Being a guest blogger has many benefits. One of those benefits is that you get traffic from relevant sites. It is also a great way to get links with anchor text around keywords that you’re trying to rank for. So in simple terms, when you write free articles for another website, they’re more than willing to give you a backlink in return.

Write Unique Content

Google loves unique content. You don’t want a page linking to your site that has a lot of worthless, crappy content. You will not see any results from this. You want to make sure that you’re getting links from unique articles on websites with a Page Rank that is more than 4.

So What Are Some Resources I Can Use For Building Backlinks?

Use Article Links! These work very well and are quite simple to build. All you need to do is create a few useful articles and publish them in Article Directories. Now, a few of my favorites are Ezine articles, Go Articles and Article Dashboard. Since these sites are the most trusted, you will find that your article will have an opportunity to rank very well and quite quickly. This strategy is very effective but there are still many people that do not implement this. This is partly due to the fact that people think they will need to write hundreds of articles and post them manually to all the directories in which some do unfortunately. I use this strategy every single day but the difference is that I use tools in which allows me to get thousands of backlinks within a matter of minutes.
